siouxsie & the banshees

BIOGRAPHY

  1976年　Siouxsie Sioux (スージー・スー）をフロントに"Siouxsie and the Banshees"を結成。
(原形はSuzie and the Banshees）
当初のメンバーはドラム・Sid Vicious（後のSex Pistols ; Bass), ギター・Marco Pirroni , ベース・Steve Severin
  同年9月20日、ロンドンの"100 Club"で行われたパンク・ロック・フェスティバルにて初ライブを行う。
(その後、ギター・Pete Fenton, ドラム・Kenny Morris ）

  77年中頃 Pete Fentonに代わって、John McGeoch ( 28 May 1955, Greenock, Strathclyde, Scotland)が後任になった。

  78年6月、"Polydor Records"と契約。
11月にはデビューアルバム "Hongkong Garden" をリリース。同名シングルはUK top 10に入る。

  79年には、初の海外ツアーを行う。（ベルリン、ハンブルグ、アムステルダム...）
9月7日、コンサートが始まる前に McKay(g)と Morris(d)が脱退。 以降（9月15日まで）のツアーはキャンセルされる。
同月、Budgie （ex-Slits,ex-Big In Japan）がドラムで参加。（以後、Budgieはメンバーとして加入する。）
また、前座をつとめていた The CureのRobert Smithにギターとして出てもらった。
10月、全英ツアー最終日後に、Siouxsieが急性肝炎のため2ヶ月の入院をする。 
 
80年8月、album "Kaleidoscope" リリース (UK Top 5)。シングル "Happy House"は UK Top 20。
(guest-guitar ; Steve Jones (ex-Pistols) , John McGeoch（Magazine））
初アメリカツアーを行う。
 
81年6月、album "Juju" リリース。
 
81年11月、シングルコレクション　album " Once Upon a Time" リリース。
1977年から1980までのビデオ・コレクションリリース。
ビデオは、UK ビデオ チャートで6ヶ月間 上位にランキングされた。
 
82年12月、album "A Kiss in the Dreamhouse" リリース。

83年6月、ライブアルバム "Nocturne" (recorded at London's Royal Albert Hall）リリース。

84年、      Geffen Recordsと契約。5月、album "Hyaena" リリース。

86年3月、album "Tinderbox" リリース。（USトップ100のアルバム・チャートに入る）

87年1月、カヴァーアルバム "Through the Looking Glass" リリース。

88年9月、album "Peep Show" リリース。
 
91年5月、album "Superstition" リリース（single "Kiss Them for Me" US Top 40)。
Lollapalooza Tourに参加 (Jane's Addiction；Perry Farrell主催）。
SiouxsieとBudgieは、結婚して南フランスへ移住。
 
92年10月、シングルコレクション album "Twice Upon a Time" リリース。
 
95年1月、album "The Rapture" リリース。
 
1996年4月、"Siouxsie and the Bansheess"　解散。
 
2002年　"Siouxsie and the Bansheess"復活！
同年8月、サマーソニック2002で来日。
